Tech Challenge
Tech Challenge is a series of events designed to test your knowledge of the basic skills every technician should have. The combination of team and individual events underline the principle that theatre technicians work together to accomplish the given tasks that makes a production successful. Each troupe has the opportunity to register TWO Tech Challenge teams. Each event will be scored, and the winning Tech Challenge team will receive a special prize. The registration cost is just $40 per team.

This year, for our Virtual Iowa Thespian Festival, schools will have the opportunity to participate in a streamlined, virtual Tech Challenge. Virtual Tech Challenge will include four simplified solo Tech Challenge events, all of which can be practiced and recorded from home for competition submission:
1. Knot Tying
2. Tape a Ground Plan
3. Sew a Button
4. Costume Quick Change.
Troupes are limited to two participants per event. The following is an overview of how Virtual Tech Challenge will work:

- Friday, February 26: Practice and competition supplies will be shipped to participant schools.
- Monday, March 15: 1-hour Zoom information and practice session, REQUIRED for all participants.
- Monday, March 22: Video submission due date.
- Wednesday, March 24: Results posted, including videos of top 3 schools
- Friday, March 26: Recognition at closing ceremonies
