    Iowa Junior Thespian Festival Registration 

    Submit the registration form below to register your students for the 2020 Iowa Junior Thespian Festival on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Waukee Theatre Arts Center.  Registration must be submitted by March 13, 2020. If you have any questions, or have any issues registering, please contact Aaron Dean at adean@dbqschools.org
    Please note: There is no cost for troupe directors or chaperones.  Lunch will be provided for directors/chaperones.  However, t-shirts will only be provided for students.
    Download and fill out the Junior Festival Registration Spreadsheet. After filling out the form with all of your student registrants, upload the spreadsheet below. Be sure you include your students' t-shirt size and pizza preference on the registration spreadsheet.

    Works-In-Progress Showcase
    The Works-In-Progress Showcase provides an opportunity for every interested school to perform at Junior Thespian Festival! Participating schools will have 10 minutes to perform anything of your choice. Performance options include an acting scene, song, dance, readers theatre, or anything in between. You could have a duet, small ensemble, or large group participate, with or without scripts. Costumes, props, or lights will not be used, but you may use provided acting boxes to help with the performance. The auditorium's sound system may also be used if you have music in your performance. Your performance does not have to be a finished product, it could be a “work-in-progress” – something that your school is preparing for an upcoming performance. The goal is for students and teachers to see what other schools are working on in a fun and supportive environment.
    Before submitting your registration, please ensure you have submitted your registration spreadsheet. After submitting your online registration, you will need to mail student consent forms and your payment to:

EVENT INFORMATION
At the Festival, middle school students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of  workshops about many aspects of theatre, including Musical Theatre, Dance, Auditioning, Stage Combat, and Technical Theatre. The workshops will be taught by theatre artists from across the state. Schools will also have the opportunity to perform a short showcase of works-in-progress, and students will have the chance to meet other middle school theatre students from across the state.

Who Can Attend
Middle school students, their teachers, and chaperones are welcome at the Iowa Junior Thespian Festival.  Please encourage all middle school students that are interested in theatre to attend Festival.  The Iowa Junior Thespian Festival is an excellent opportunity for students of all backgrounds and experiences to view and enjoy outstanding theatre activities. 
 
Please plan an appropriate number of chaperones for the size of your delegation.  We recommend you register one chaperone for every 8-10 students.  All chaperones should plan to participate and accompany students throughout the Festival day.  This will help ensure a successful, smooth and enjoyable Festival for all!
