Each year, we have hundreds of performances from high school students in the Individual Events competition.   Students compete in the areas of acting, musical theatre, improvisation, film, and technical events.  We need over 30 judges to participate in the Individual Event competition.  Adjudicators receive a $100 honorarium.

Guest critics provide written comments to the performers and help determine the performances that will be featured in a showcase during the Festival.

Please complete the following if you are interested in adjudicating Individual Events at the 2017 Iowa Thespian Festival on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.   IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN JUDGING INDIVIDUAL EVENTS, YOU MAY SKIP THESE QUESTIONS AND MOVE TO THE NEXT SECTION.

    Workshop Presentations

At Festival, workshop sessions will be offered for students and teachers. There will be two workshop sessions of 45 minutes each.  We offer a $100 stipend for individuals that present at both sessions.  Presenting a workshop is another great way to make personal contact with students and teachers, as well as to promote your college and/or organization.

Workshop presentations can be focused on any aspect of theatre - from onstage to offstage.

Please complete the following registration if you are interested in leading a workshop(s) on Saturday, November 11 (2:00-4:00 PM).
If you would like to teach a different workshop during each of the two sessions, please fill out the information below.  If you would like to teach the same workshop during each session, you may skip the questions below.

    Scholarship Audition Viewing

Theatre students from across the state of Iowa will present both technical and performance auditions on Saturday, November 11 (8:00 - 10:00 AM).  College representatives have the opportunity to view the scholarship auditions, and invite students to meet with you throughout festival.

If interested, your college representative may present scholarship offers during the closing ceremonies on the Gallagher-Bluedorn stage on Saturday, November 11.

The fee for viewing the scholarship auditions is $25.  This fee covers the cost of printing audition materials for each participating college.  The audition materials will include a resume, headshot, and troupe director recommendation form.
If you will have additional representatives from your organization viewing the scholarship auditions, please include their name(s) below.  This is important for us to have materials prepared.

    Advertising Opportunities

There are additional opportunities for you to support Iowa Thespians and to garner some excellent publicity for your college and/or organization.  If you are interested in advertising your organization at the 2017 Iowa Thespian Festival, please complete the section below.  If not, you can skip this set of questions and move to the next section.

Each year, we have over 900 students, teachers, and parent chaperones from across the state of Iowa.  We would appreciate your support in helping provide an outstanding weekend of educational theatre.  In return, you will have an opportunity to promote your college and/or organization to these outstanding students and parents.
