Iowa Thespian All-State Cabaret
The All-State Cabaret is an exciting event that will conclude our weekend at Festival, featuring performers and technicians from across the state in large and small ensemble musical performances that fit into our Festival theme, Time Warp. Participants will learn from and work with a creative team of directors and designers from across the state to create the performance during festival.
Each school attending Festival has the opportunity to submit TWO performers from their school - ONE performer for the treble choir (soprano/alto/mezzo) AND ONE performer for the bass choir (tenor/bass/baritone). Our goal is for ALL schools to be represented by a performer. Each school may also submit the name of one technician to apply for 4-6 design/technician roles. The creative team will distribute sheet music to all performers, which will need to be memorized before festival weekend. Rehearsals will be on Friday and Saturday of Festival. Performers selected for the All-State Cabaret may only participate in one other Festival event (these events include Individual Events, Studio Theatre performances, Tech Challenge). Performance attire for the Cabaret is professional blacks (same guidelines as Individual Events). Questions? Performer Video Submission All performers will need to submit a video for the creative team to prepare students for the cabaret. There is no audition for the cabaret - troupe directors may select any student that they would like to participate. The video will help the creative team place students into vocal parts and solos. Performers will need to select one of the following songs to sing in the video. If you are unsure of your vocal part, you can choose whichever song fits you best. Click on the link below for the sheet music with the video cut.
Performers have two submission options - 1. Upload a video file in the form below. 2. Share a link to a video player (i.e. YouTube) in the provided box below. Be sure if you are submitting a link that the permissions are set for creative staff members to access the link. If you have any questions about the video submission, contact Steph DeLacy at stephanie.delacy@gmail.com. Technician Guidelines
