SANDBOX - Mainstage Performances

Mainstage Performances

The following mainstage productions have been selected for the 2021 Iowa Thespian Festival:
  • Clue - Onstage! adapted by Jonathan Lynn. Performed by Davenport North HIgh School, Troupe #3994
  • Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. Performed by South Tama County High School, Troupe #1038
  • Chicago by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse. Performed by Tipton High School, Troupe #601
Mainstage Guidelines
  • The mainstage production's director MUST have previously directed a Studio Theatre at the Iowa Thespian Festival
  • Schools will not be allowed to present a mainstage show at two consecutive Iowa Festivals.
  • All mainstage productions will be charged a $500 performance/adjudication fee. If you do not want to be adjudicated, your school will still have to pay the $500 fee.
  • All mainstage show content must be appropriate for a high school audience.
  • If selected, the director of your production will need to complete a performance contract (complete with technical packet and details) and attend an on-site meeting with the technical staff at the University of Northern Iowa during the month of October to finalize all technical and load-in/load-out details.

All mainstage performances will be evaluated by the Educational Theatre Association for potential invites to the International Thespian Festival.  Acceptance of any invitations from the EdTA is at the discretion of the participating schools.
