College Auditions

There are two scholarship competitions at the 2011 Thespian Festival: The Iowa Thespian Scholarship and College Scholarship. Both are only available to seniors and both take place on Friday, November 11.
All of the students participating in the Thespian Scholarship Competition audition for the College Scholarship Competition.
The college scholarship auditions are a maximum of (5) minutes long per student. This includes up to (3) minutes of performance/presentation time as well as up to (2) minutes of initial questioning and/or time to jot notes from the college panel.
Once all the students have auditioned, each college will make their own selection(s) of whom they would like to meet with to talk to one-on-one. Those students ‘called back’ will have a final chance to meet with representatives from the colleges that requested to see them again later in the day. Once the colleges have finished meeting with the students that they called back, they will then decide if they wish to give a scholarship and whom they will award their scholarship(s).
The winner(s) will be announced prior to the final main stage performance on Saturday.
College representatives will be given the opportunity to award their scholarship(s) in person. Any plaques or certificates a college would like to present are optional and the responsibility of the school. Chapter Director Lynn Jensen and chapter board members will make the presentation if a representative is not able to attend the presentation.
Upon arrival, each participating colleges’ representative(s) will also receive an information packet on each student auditioning that they can take with them. This packet will include the contact information and a resume of each student that auditions.
