Presenters and Adjudicators
The success of the Iowa Thespians Festival each year is in part due to the participation of presenters and adjudicators, oftentimes who travel from across the state (and country) to provide an important educational opportunity for the students attending. For more information about these programs, contact Katie Howard.

Workshop Presenters
We are also looking for workshop presenters. On Saturday, November 14, workshop sessions will be offered for students, teachers, and parent chaperones. There will be two workshop sessions of 60 minutes each. We offer a $100 honorarium for workshop presenters who present at both sessions. Presenting a workshop is another great way to make personal contact with students and teachers as well as to promote your business. Each year we survey students to find out what type of workshops they would most like to attend. I have enclosed a list of their suggestions on the workshop page of this mailing. Ideally, we hope to offer a well- rounded group of workshops for this year’s festival. These workshops will be held from 2:15-3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 on Saturday. If you are interested in presenting a workshop, please download the form here and return it to the Iowa Thespians.

Theatre Business Displays
The Iowa Thespians hope that you will send a representative of your business or college to meet with interested students and teachers. Beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 13, the Iowa Thespians will provide you with space to set up a display representing your business for the duration of the festival. Students and teachers will have plenty of time to meet and talk with you throughout the two days. There is a $20 display fee. We’ll provide you with a table and access to electrical outlets if you need them. We do, however, ask that you bring your own extension cord. Please remember that these are for display purposes only. The festival has its own vendors, so please don’t bring anything to sell. To participate, please download the form here and return it to the Iowa Thespians.

College Auditions
This year we are offering a separate audition time for juniors and seniors to present their audition materials to any interested college representative. This will be separate from the Thespian auditions and will occur on Saturday from 12:45-2 p.m. This time should allow college representatives to present workshops later in the afternoon, if they so desire.

Individual Events Adjudicators
Every year, over 150 students participate in our individual events program. Students will perform in the areas of short film, team improvisation, monologue, duet acting, group musical theatre, solo pantomime, duet pantomime and technical theatre. We are in need of critics for the above events. Adjudicators will receive a $100 stipend plus a meal on Friday evening. The Individual Events are held on Friday night, November 13 from approximately 4-7 p.m. and resume from 8-10 p.m. Critics will give both written and oral comments to the performers and select one individual/group to advance to the International Thespian Festival in June 2010. If you are interested in adjudicating an event, contact Natalie Saunders at Natalie.saunders@gpaea.k12.ia.us.
