One of the most powerful and moving pieces of theatre in recent history, The Laramie Project recounts the true story of Matthew Shepard, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of Wyoming who was "kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die, tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming . . . he was the victim of this assault because he was gay."
